Grace on the Battlefield – Chancellorsville
Men of grace! Join author and Civil War historian Jimmy Price on Saturday, July 16th for our second Grace on the Battlefield walking tour! This time we will explore what has been called Robert E. Lee’s greatest victory – the Campaign and Battle of Chancellorsville, waged from April 30 – May 6, 1863.
As we did last time, we will explore some of the great themes and personalities involved in the battle, walk the hallowed ground where over 30,000 men became casualties, and, as always, look into the spiritual examples and lessons that can be gleaned from this massive battle that put both Union and Confederate armies on the path to Gettysburg.
The tour will start just outside the Chancellorsville Visitor Center, located at 9001 Plank Road, Spotsylvania, VA 22553. After a morning hike that will be sure to whet your appetites, we will then proceed to the Battlefield Country Store (6150 Plank Rd, Fredericksburg, VA 22407) to receive our daily rations. From there we will move out to our last stop of the day, the Salem Church Battlefield (12026 Old Salem Church Rd, Fredericksburg, VA 22407) just across from Grace Church of Fredericksburg.
As always, wear comfortable walking shoes, bring plenty of water, and wear bug spray! For more info, call or text Jimmy Price at (804) 690-9199. We hope to see you there!
